Who We Are
The Applied Solutions Coalition (ASC) is a dynamic group of rural-to-midsize counties and local governments committed to meeting the global economic, climate and energy challenges with local, integrated, carbon-reducing solutions through strategic partnerships.

Our Vision
ASC’s vision is to dramatically reduce local carbon emissions while increasing energy independence and jobs through bold action and deployment of next-generation approaches to community infrastructure. This calls for innovative, integrated approaches to building design and retrofit, energy and water efficiency, renewable energy, land use modifications, transportation modernization, and community outreach.

Our Values
ASC believes that meaningful action requires integrated responses that simultaneously address energy and water efficiency, renewable energy, land use and transportation. In other words, one of the things that distinguishes us is that we have moved beyond “siloed” approaches to solving global problems. Instead, we address these complex problems with responses that increase opportunities and benefits by working with multiple foci and interconnected systems at the local level. This approach yields better results and is appropriate for local action.

Our Commitment
ASC and its individual members are committed to working in strategic partnerships on next-generation, integrated responses that are community-scale, highly replicable, low/no-carbon infrastructures, programs and projects to stimulate the new energy economy.

Our Approach
Individual communities in the coalition are designing, implementing, and deploying integrated projects and programs that reflect their local opportunities. Together as a coalition, these projects and programs will represent a diverse portfolio of types of integrated solutions to today’s energy, climate, and economic challenges. They are meant to serve as an applied laboratory, with successful approaches and lessons learned, to be deployed at scale across all interested communities in the United States and beyond.
